The beloved annual Provincetown International\u00a0Film<\/a>\u00a0Festival (PIFF) is having a big moment with its buzzy 2025 lineup. IndieWire can\u00a0announce<\/a>\u00a0that leading horror auteur\u00a0Ari Aster<\/a>\u00a0will be honored with the Filmmaker on the Edge title at the festival, which will take place from June 11 to 15 in Provincetown, MA.<\/p>\n Aster will be in Provincetown to receive the award and participate in conversation with resident artist John Waters on Saturday, June 14,\u00a0ahead of the nationwide release of his new film \u201cEddington\u201d on July 18. The\u00a0secretive 2020-set dark comedy<\/a>\u00a0\u201cEddington\u201d will debut at\u00a0Cannes<\/a>; the feature reunites Aster with his \u201cBeau Is Afraid\u201d star\u00a0Joaquin Phoenix, as well as Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Luke Grimes, Clifton Collins Jr., and more.<\/p>\n \u201cAri Aster\u2019s films weave grief, beauty and dread into unforgettable cinematic experiences,\u201d Anne Hubbell, PIFF\u2019s Executive Director, said in a press statement. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to welcome Ari to Provincetown for a thrilling conversation about his dynamic filmography.\u201d<\/p>\n PIFF will also be honoring fellow directors\u00a0Eva Victor<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0River Gallo<\/a>\u00a0with the Next Wave Awards, as well as\u00a0Murray Bartlett<\/a>\u00a0with the Excellence in Acting Award.
