The latest win for the documentary, made by a Palestinian\/Israeli collective that includes directors and activists Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, and Basel Adra: a trio of awards at this year\u2019s\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_cinema-eye-honors\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/cinema-eye-honors\/\" data-tag=\"cinema-eye-honors\">Cinema Eye Honors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the 18th annual Cinema Eye Honors, which took place Thursday, January 9 at the New York Academy of Medicine in East Harlem, the\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_film\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/film\/\" data-tag=\"film\">film<\/a> walked away with three awards, including Cinema Eye\u2019s top prize, Outstanding Nonfiction Filmmaking. Directors Yuval Abraham, Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, and Rachel Szor also received the award for Debut Feature, with Abraham and Adra also Honored as Unforgettables for their appearance on screen in the film.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/awards\/results\/2025-cinema-eye-honors-nominations-complete-list-1235066029\/\">This year\u2019s nominees<\/a>\u00a0for the Cinema Eye Honors, which honors the best in documentary fiction and\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_tv\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/tv\/\" data-tag=\"tv\">TV<\/a>, included a healthy crop of some of our best new non-fiction offerings. Other winners included \u201cEno,\u201d \u201cSoundtrack to a Coup d\u2019Etat,\u201d and \u201cUnion,\u201d which took home two honors each, with \u201cEno\u201d taking the Honor for Visual Design and for Unforgettable Brian Eno, \u201cSoundtrack to a Coup d\u2019Etat\u201d winning Editing for Rik Chaubet and Sound Design for Ranko Paukovi\u0107 and Alek Goosse, and \u201cUnion\u201d recognized for Production (Brett Story, Stephen Maing, Mars Verrone, Samantha Curley, and Martin DiCicco) and Unforgettable Chris Smalls.<\/p>\n<p>A number of films on the Oscar Best Documentary Feature Shortlist received trophies this evening, including Outstanding Direction for Mati Diop (\u201cDahomey\u201d), Cinematography for Christopher LaMarca and Emily Kassie (\u201cSugarcane\u201d), Original Score for Uno Helmersson (\u201cThe Remarkable Life of Ibelin\u201d), Audience Choice Prize for \u201cPorcelain War\u201d and Unforgettable Honors for \u201cBlack Box Diaries\u201d (Shiori Ito), \u201cQueendom\u201d (Genna Marvin), and \u201cWill &amp; Harper\u201d (Harper Steele).<\/p>\n<p>HBO had a big evening, earning four awards in the Broadcast Film and Series categories:\u00a0\u201cSlave Play. Not a Movie. A Play.\u201d for Broadcast Film,\u00a0\u201cTelemarketers\u201d\u00a0for Nonfiction Series,\u00a0\u201cHow To with John Wilson\u201d (Season 3)\u00a0for Anthology Series and\u00a0\u201cRen Faire\u201d\u00a0for Broadcast Cinematography.
