Jury duty began Tuesday, May 14 for this year\u2019s Cannes Film Festival competition panelists, led by president Greta Gerwig, the billion-dollar filmmaker behind \u201cBarbie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Omar Sy, Eva Green, Lily Gladstone, Pierfrancesco Favino, Hirokazu Kore-eda, J.A. Bayona, Nadine Labaki, and Ebru Ceylan, along with Gerwig, convened at the Palais des Festivals for the annual opening day press conference. Tonight\u2019s festival launches with the world premiere of Quentin Dupieux\u2019s \u201cThe Second Act.\u201d The jury will discuss, debate, and deliberate on films including Paul Schrader\u2019s \u201cOh, Canada,\u201d Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s \u201cMegalopolis,\u201d Andrea Arnold\u2019s \u201cBird,\u201d Yorgos Lanthimos\u2019 \u201cKinds of Kindness,\u201d and more.<\/p>\n
