\u2018Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,\u2019 \u2018Dancing With the Stars\u2019 Lead Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Nominations (EXCLUSIVE): <\/h1>\n

Marvel\u2019s \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3\u201d led the 11th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award nominations.<\/p>\n

The final installment of the \u201cGuardians\u201d franchise used over 22,500 prosthetics, 500 wigs and 130 facial hairpieces, breaking the world record for most prosthetics used in a film. It was nominated in special makeup effects, period and character makeup and period hair styling. \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3\u201d also landed nods for character hair styling and contemporary makeup.<\/p>\n

\u201cBarbie\u201d scored two nominations. Notably, neither that film nor \u201cGuardians\u201d landed on the Oscars makeup and hairstyling shortlist. \u201cGolda,\u201d \u201cMaestro\u201d and \u201cPoor Things\u201d were also in the running for guild nominations.<\/p>\n

\nIn the television category, \u201cDancing With the Stars\u201d dominated with five nominations. Six makeup artists were nominated in best special makeup effects due to a tie.<\/p>\n

As previously announced, Michael Westmore, the award-winning makeup artist behind \u201cRocky\u201d and \u201cRaging Bull,\u201d will be honored with the Vanguard Award. Kevin Haney (\u201cDriving Miss Daisy\u201d) and Ora T. Green (\u201cStar Trek: Nemesis\u201d) will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.<\/p>\n

Annette Bening is this year\u2019s Distinguished Artisan Award recipient. The actress will be recognized for her body of work and contribution to the craft.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced on Feb. 18.<\/p>\n
