South by Southwest\u2019s 2024 edition just added some more star-studded movies in its second wave of programming including the highly anticipated Jordan Peele Monkeypaw production, Monkey Man, starring and directed by Dev Patel, the Sydney Sweeney nun movie Immaculate, the new Nicolas Cage horror movie Arcadian, and Musica starring Riverdale\u2019s Camila Mendes.<\/p>\n
For Peele, Sweeney, and Cage it\u2019s another trip back to the Texas Capital. Peele world premiered his second horror directorial, Us, at SXSW back in 2019, while Sweeney was in Austin last year for her movie inde road movie Americana. Cage brought down the house in SXSW\u2019s return from Covid edition in 2022 with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.<\/p>\n
A24, which world premiered their ultimate Best Picture Oscar winner, Everything Everywhere All at Once at SXSW 2022, is back as well with SNL alum Kyle Mooney\u2018s feature directorial debut, Y2K, the Colman Domingo headliner Sing Sing with its U.S. Premiere and the Jane Schoenbrun directed movie I Saw the TV Glow fresh from Sundance.<\/p>\n
All of these features join already scheduled big pics, opening night title Amazon MGM\u2019s Roadhouse starring Jake Gyllenhaal, centerpiece Universal\u2019s David Leitch-directed The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, and Amazon MGM\u2019s closing night Michael Showalter-directed Anne Hathaway romantic drama, The Idea of You.<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s 50 additional projects brings SXSW\u2019s line up to 115 features including 89 World Premieres, 3 International Premieres, 6 North American Premieres, 4 U.S. Premieres, 13 Texas Premieres + 80 Short Films including 19 Music Videos. The TV program includes 7 TV Premieres, 8 TV Spotlight World Premieres and 6 Independent TV Pilots. The XR Experience program includes 38 projects. <\/p>\n
