Academy Award nominee Uma Thurman is confirmed to star opposite Richard Gere, Jacob Elordi and Michael Imperioli in the drama Oh, Canada, written and directed by Paul Schrader.<\/p>\n
An adaptation of the late Russell Banks\u2019 2021 novel Foregone, the film wrapped production under an interim agreement in October.<\/p>\n
Pic tells the story of Leonard Fife (Gere), a famed documentary filmmaker who takes stock of his life, with not long to go after being stricken with cancer at 80 years old. The most unreliable of narrators \u2014 and of men \u2014 Fife offers the viewer a look at his home life, as a draft-dodging artist who abandoned one family for another, consistently evading any sense of responsibility for actions as he starts a new life in Canada.<\/p>\n
Thurman plays Emma, the present day spouse and creative partner of Gere\u2019s character, Fife. Producers of the project include David Gonzales, Tiffany Boyle, Scott LaStaiti, Meghan Hanlon and Luisa Law.<\/p>\n
Most recently, Thuman has been seen starring in Red, White and Royal Blue, the film based on Casey McQuiston\u2019s same-name bestseller, which debuted at No. 1 globally on Prime Video over the summer and is now among the streamer\u2019s top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time. Additionally, she has starred in the comedic thriller The Kill Room from director Nicol Paone, reuniting there with her Pulp Fiction co-star Samuel L. Jackson.<\/p>\n
Among other upcoming projects for the actress is Netflix\u2019s The Old Guard 2, which has her starring opposite Charlize Theron and is expected to be released in 2024. She is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.<\/p>\n
