After winning the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at this year\u2019s Sundance Film Festival and a limited theatrical run, Nikyatu Jusu\u2018s acclaimed horror movie Nanny arrives on Prime Video tomorrow, December 16, 2022.<\/p>\n

Ahead of tomorrow\u2019s Prime Video release, Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip teasing the unsettling events haunting its eponymous nanny.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnna Diop (Us) stars as a Senegalese immigrant nanny working for a privileged couple in NYC. As she prepares for the arrival of the son she left behind in West Africa, a violent presence invades her reality, threatening the American Dream she is painstakingly piecing together.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the clip, Aisha (Diop) gets out of the shower to sounds of whispers and a door creaking. No one answers. Then she notices something amiss in the mirror when she looks at her reflection.<\/p>\n

Nanny introduces Senegalese folklore, blending it with the modern to explore Aisha\u2019s horrifying and often heartbreaking story.<\/p>\n

Michelle Monaghan (The Craft: Legacy), Sinqua Walls (The 15:17 to Paris), Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age), and Rose Decker (Mare of Easttown) also star in Nanny.<\/p>\n

Jusu previously said of her film, \u201cSomali-British poet Warsan Shire states, \u2018no one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark.\u2019 Nanny is my attempt to make sense of the displacement, the nostalgia immigrant women carry as they forge inexorably new lives in America. Our mothers sacrificed so much in order for us to essentially create ourselves, and though the real life horror of that sacrifice manifests in the form of living breathing monsters in Nanny, my goal is for audiences to leave our film with a sense of hopefulness.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen like my protagonist Aisha, my mother and perhaps your mothers, refused to succumb to a society never intended for their success but rather empowered themselves with a narrative of survival that equipped them to thrive, to fly, to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n
