From Drew Barrymore to Jenny Han: These NY Women Made an Impact on the Entertainment Industry the Past Year: <\/h1>\n

Every year, Variety celebrates the wo\u00admen who make this city\u2019s $60 billion entertainment industry come alive \u2014 and thrive. This year, we looked beyond familiar names to showcase 66 executives, producers, directors, writers and actors who deserve to be seen. The women who appear on the pages that follow have broken barriers, navigated TV\u2019s streaming wars, produced indie movies on a budget Marvel would consider chump change and contributed to New York\u2019s rich artistic landscape. We salute them for all that they do.<\/p>\n

Compas always knew she wanted to be an attorney in the entertainment industry, calling herself \u201csuch a musicophile and cinephile.\u201d She leads Ramo Law\u2019s New York office, where she has represented clients including Push It Prods. (\u201cThe Upshaws\u201d), Imagine Documentaries (\u201cLucy and Desi\u201d) and the Jim Henson Co. \u201cThe more and more work I did in the film and television space, it just really interested me,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd being able to see a film go from development all the way through to fruition and see it on the screen or television \u2014 it\u2019s just incredible to me to know that I\u2019ve been a part of that process.\u201d<\/p>\n
