\u2018Elvis,\u2019 \u2018Wakanda Forever,\u2019 \u2018The Whale\u2019 Lead 2023 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Awards: <\/h1>\n

The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) held its 10th annual awards ceremony Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.<\/p>\n

Baz Luhrmann\u2019s \u201cElvis\u201d dominated the night with two wins for best period and\/or character make-up and period and\/or character hair styling. Best special make-up effects went to Adrien Morot, Kathy Tse and Chris Gallaher for \u201cThe Whale. Michelle Chung (Variety\u2019s 10 artisans to watch recipient for hair and makeup) and the \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once\u201d team took home the award for best contemporary make up, while the \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever\u201d team won for best contemporary hair.<\/p>\n

\nOn the TV front, Hulu\u2019s \u201cPam and Tommy,\u201d \u201cAmerican Horror Story: Dollhouse\u201d and \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special\u201d all took home awards.<\/p>\n

Make-up artist D\u2019Andre Michael and MUAH winner Camille Friend presented the Distinguished Artisan Award to Angela Bassett. <\/p>\n

Bassett told the room full of local 706 artisans, \u201cBefore anything is shot, edited or shown on the screen, there\u2019s a team made up of all of you who work long and hard \u2013 I see it \u2013 to help us bring to life the characters on screen.\u201d Bassett continued, \u201cYou are just as responsible as I am for who the character is, how the world perceives and receives them and for how that character is remembered.\u201d<\/p>\n
