EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has an exclusive clip from Prisoner\u2019s Daughter \u2014 a suspenseful family drama starring Gotham Award nominee Kate Beckinsale (Underworld franchise) and Emmy winner Brian Cox (Succession), which is making its world premiere today at the Toronto Film Festival.<\/p>\n
The film directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen) tells the story of Max (Cox), a tough but proud ex-con who\u2019s struggling to find a way to reconnect with his only daughter Maxine (Beckinsale), as well as his grandson (Christopher Convery), after being granted a compassionate release. Once he begins an attempt at reconciliation, his violent past comes back to haunt them all.<\/p>\n
Mark Bacci wrote the script for the feature, also starring Jon Huertas (This Is Us), Ernie Hudson (Grace and Frankie) and Tyson Ritter (The Idol), with Sam Okun, Marina Grasic and David Haring serving as producers. Capstone is handling international sales, with UTA repping domestic.<\/p>\n
Hardwicke sets up the new clip from Prisoner\u2019s Daughter as follows: \u201cThis is the scene where Brian Cox\u2019s character, Max, makes a call from prison to his long-estranged daughter, played by Kate Beckinsale, asking her for an enormous favor. With few words, this father and daughter express a decade of pain and misunderstanding. Kate\u2019s character struggles with this new dilemma and ultimately agrees to a very emotionally charged reunion.\u201d<\/p>\n
