Young love comes in mysterious forms and often occurs when you least expect it. The new quirky romance \u201cSome Freaks\u201d takes us through that bittersweet feeling between two \u201cfreaks\u201d alienated from their peers and surroundings. One-eyed high school senior Matt (Thomas Mann) meets 250-lb classmate Jill (Lily Mae Harrington) and immediately falls head over heels in love. But after graduation, Jill moves cross-country for college and ends up losing over 50 lbs and changes her appearance entirely. Surprised and confused by the change, Matt struggles to accept Jill\u2019s choice while Jill isn\u2019t sure Matt is the kind of guy she wants to date. As the distance widens between them, Matt and Jill are forced to confront who they are, who they were, and who everyone thinks they are, all the while trying to suss out if they\u2019re right for each other in the first place. The film is the feature-length debut from writer\/director Ian MacAllister-McDonald. Star Thomas Mann is best known for his lead role in \u201cMe and Earl and the Dying Girl,\u201d and breakout star Lily Mae Harrington previously participated in \u201cThe Glee Project\u201d and made an appearance in \u201cPee-Wee\u2019s Big Holiday.\u201d The film also stars Ely Henry (\u201cMean Girls\u201d), Lachlan Buchanan (\u201cThe Young and the Restless\u201d), and Marin Ireland (\u201cHell or High Water\u201d).<\/p>\n
\u201cSome Freaks\u201d will premiere at this year\u2019s Fantasia International Film Festival on July 24th at 7:30 pm at the J.A. De Seve Theatre in Montreal.<\/p>\n
