The supernatural horror film MARA starring Olga Kurylenko (QUANTUM OF SOLACE, OBLIVION) and Javier Botet (MAMA, CRIMSON PEAK, Universal\u2019s upcoming THE MUMMY) completed principal photography this weekend on location in Savannah, Georgia, it was announced today by The Solution Entertainment Group, Moon River Studios and Mann Made Films.<\/p>\n
Cult favorite Clive Tonge makes his directorial feature film debut on MARA from a script written by Tonge and Jonathan Frank (THE TOURNAMENT). Centered around the mythology and true phenomena of a medical condition called \u2018sleep paralysis,\u2019 criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Kurylenko) is assigned to the murder of a man who has seemingly been strangled in his sleep by his wife. The only witness is their eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. As Kate digs into the mystery of an ancient demon, Mara (Botet) which kills people in their sleep, she experiences the same petrifying symptoms as all previous victims and spirals through a chilling nightmare to save herself and Sophie before she dares fall asleep again.<\/p>\n
Georgia production services provider Moon River Studios, in association with Grodnik Aloe Productions, financed the picture and The Solution Entertainment Group is handling worldwide sales. Producers are Steven Schneider (INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY), along with Scott Mann, James Edward Barker, Myles Nestel, Craig Chapman, Dan Grodnik, Mary Aloe and Jake Shapiro. Wendy Rhoads, Graham Bradstreet, Alice Neuhauser, Lisa Wilson and Gordon Bijelonic are executive producers.<\/p>\n

Clive Tonge is a British filmmaker who began his career as a Music Video Director for multi-platinum bands such as Shed 7, Elastica, 808 State and Maximo Park. His shorts have screened internationally in renowned film festivals including the Cannes Film Festival, Los Angeles Short Film Fest and Edinburgh Film Festival.<\/p>\n
Olga Kurylenko rose to international fame as \u201cCamille\u201d opposite Daniel Craig in QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Her other recent projects include the blockbuster sci-fi film OBLIVION with Tom Cruise and in the lead role of Terrence Malick\u2019s TO THE WONDER with Ben Affleck, The Solution\u2019s THE NOVEMBER MAN directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Pierce Brosnan and THE WATER DIVINER with Russell Crowe.<\/p>\n
Javier Botet is best known for his frightening performance as the vengeful mother in MAMA alongside Jessica Chastain. His eerie performance grabbed the attention of Guillermo del Toro who later cast him in CRIMSON PEAK with Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston. Botet will soon be seen in Universal\u2019s THE MUMMY starring Tom Cruise as well as 20th Century Fox\u2019s THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR starring \u2018The Walking Dead\u2019s\u2019 Sarah Wayne Callies.<\/p>\n
