HanWay Films have picked up comedy drama \u201cSweet Sue\u201d from newcomer Leo Leigh with sales set to commence at the European Film Market in Berlin.<\/p>\n
Buyers will also be treated to footage at the market. A first look image of \u201cWhite Line\u2019s\u201d Maggie O\u2019Neill, who plays the starring role of Sue, is above.<\/p>\n
In \u201cSweet Sue\u201d, which wrapped production Dec. 2021, O\u2019Neill plays a woman who embarks on a relationship with a mysterious biker called Ron after meeting at a funeral. But Ron\u2019s son Anthony, a social media influencer who also has his own dance troupe, is more than she bargained for.<\/p>\n
Tony Pitts (\u201cRogue One\u201d) plays Ron in the film while Harry Trevaldwyn, who is set to appear on the upcoming U.K. adaptation of \u201cCall My Agent,\u201d takes on the role of Anthony.<\/p>\n
Joining them are Nick Holder (\u201cLondon Road\u201d), Anna Calder-Marshall (\u201cLast Christmas\u201d), Paul Hilton (\u201cLady Macbeth\u201d), Hannah Walters (\u201cBoiling Point\u201d), Jeff Rawle (\u201cRebecca\u201d), Johann Myers (\u201cSmall Axe\u201d), Amaka Okafor (\u201cUpon the Edge\u201d), Anthony Adjekum (\u201cStarred Up\u201d) and Anna Francolini (\u201cEmma\u201d).<\/p>\n
While \u201cSweet Sue\u201d is Leigh\u2019s debut feature, the writer and director has previously worked as a cinematographer and photographer on projects including \u201cBeautiful Liverpool\u201d and \u201cSwansea Love Story.\u201d He wrote and directed BIFA nominated short \u201cMother\u201d and Channel 4\u2019s \u201cSometimes Chinese.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSweet Sue\u201d is a Somesuch, SUMS Film & Media production for BBC Film. It is produced by BAFTA Award winner Scott O\u2019Donnell (\u201cSurge\u201d), Andy Brunskill (\u201cSweetheart\u201d) and Tim Nash (\u201cHome\u201d). It was financed by BBC Film (executive produced by Eva Yates) and Somesuch (executive produced by Sally Campbell), with finance completed by executive producers Oliver Ridge, Safitri Widagdo, Kathryn M. Moseley, Piers Hunt, Pietro Greppi, Tiffany Boyle, Elsa Ramo and Trigger Films.<\/p>\n
