Dean Devlin\u2019s Electric Entertainment has acquired all media rights for the U.S. and Canada for The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, starring Jason Sudeikis, Jessica Biel and Maisie Williams. The film, which world preemed at Tribeca, is set for a theatrical release later this year.<\/p>\n
After tragedy strikes Henry (Jason Sudeikis) and Penny (Jessica Biel), he befriends a tenacious young girl (Maisie Williams) and discovers she is constructing a raft to sail across the Atlantic to find her lost father. Together, along with some unlikely friends, they set forth to construct the vessel and subsequently rebuild their lives.<\/p>\n
The deal was brokered by Electric Entertainment\u2019s Head of Domestic Distribution, Zac Reeder and Vice President of Development Ben Kim, and by WME Global on behalf of the filmmakers.<\/p>\n
Bill Purple directed the film, which he also co-wrote with Robbie Pickering. It was produced by Michelle Purple, Jessica Biel, Mike Landry, Carlos Velazquez and Chuck Pacheco, with music composed by Justin Timberlake.<\/p>\n
The film marks the second release for Electric Entertainment\u2019s newly created domestic distribution division. Its first, Blackway, starring Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles and Ray Liotta, is scheduled for a theatrical release in the U.S and Canada as well as on VOD on June 10th.<\/p>\n
Electric is also currently selling international rights to Brad Silberling\u2019s thriller An Ordinary Man, , with Sir Ben Kingsley.<\/p>\n
