CASTINGS<\/p>\n

Sean Astin has been cast in a pair of upcoming feature films: \u201cMayfield\u2019s Game\u201d opposite Mira Sorvino and \u201cCharming The Hearts of Men\u201d opposite Kelsey Grammer.<\/p>\n

Astin is best known for portraying Samwise Gamgee in \u201cThe Lord of the Rings\u201d trilogy (2001\u20132003) and Daniel \u201cRudy\u201d Ruettiger in \u201cRudy.\u201d He also played Bob Newby in the second and third season of \u201cStranger Things\u201d and will appear in the second part of his show \u201cNo Good Nick,\u201d which premieres Aug. 5 on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Astin is repped by Stewart Talent, Luber\/Rocklin and Goodman Schenkman & Brecheen, LLP<\/p>\n

PEANUTS MOVIES<\/p>\n

CineLife Entertainment has partnered with CBS Home Entertainment as the North American theatrical distributor for 1969\u2019s \u201cA Boy Named Charlie Brown\u201d and 1972\u2019s \u201cSnoopy, Come Home.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the first time the digitally remastered films have been available for theatrical bookings since their original release dates.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Boy Named Charlie Brown\u201d will re-open in theaters on Aug. 18, 21 and 24. The story sees Charlie Brown muster up the courage to enter his school\u2019s spelling contest, before going on to compete in the National Spelling Bee.<\/p>\n

\u201cSnoopy, Come Home\u201d is set to re-open on Sept. 29, Oct 3 and Oct. 5. in a story in which Snoopy\u2019s original owner wants to reclaim him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be associated with \u2018Peanuts\u2019 for the 50th anniversary of this timeless classic. The characters have stood the test of time and their adventures are as relevant today as they were 50 years ago,\u201d said Ronnie Ycong, EVP of exhibitor relations and operations at Spotlight Cinema Networks.<\/p>\n

ACQUISITION<\/p>\n

ASA Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to the comedy \u201cOne Last Night,\u201d Variety has learned exclusively.<\/p>\n

Brian Baumgartner, Luke Brandon Field, Rachele Schank, Ali Cobrin and Kelly Stables star. The film is written, directed and produced by Anthony Sabet. \u201cOne Last Night,\u201d will hit theaters and VOD on Aug. 16.<\/p>\n

The story centers on Field and Schank\u2019s characters going on a first date to a movie where they become so engaged in a heated discussion that they do not notice the theater closing, leaving them locked inside. As they search for an escape, they quickly find themselves falling for one another.<\/p>\n

FILM FESTIVAL<\/p>\n

The Hamptons International Film Festival will honor director Brian De Palma with a Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 2019 festival.<\/p>\n

De Palma will also participate in \u201cA Conversation With\u201d at the festival with festival co-chair Alec Baldwin.<\/p>\n

De Palma\u2019s credits include \u201cMission: Impossible,\u201d \u201cThe Untouchables,\u201d \u201cCarrie,\u201d \u201cScarface,\u201d \u201cCarlito\u2019s Way,\u201d \u201cCasualties of War\u201d and \u201cBlow Out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBrian De Palma\u2019s filmography suggests one word: excitement,\u201d Baldwin said. \u201cFew directors in movie history have generated the kinds of feelings found in Brian\u2019s films. Although he often worked with big stars and great writers, Brian is responsible for most of the excitement in his films.\u201d<\/p>\n
