Monsters and Men tells a ripple-effect narrative: from an eye-witness (Ramos) who captures a shooting on his phone, an African-American police officer (Washington) battling with his conscience to stand up against his fellow officers, to a local high school student (Kelvin Harrison Jr) who transforms from passive bystander to vehement activist. With fluid cinematography that\u2019s alert and expressive, the film explores the ramifications of such an event in a terrifying and poetic way.<\/p>\n
Reinaldo Marcus Green wrote the screenplay and directs.<\/p>\n
We called the film \u2018and outstanding piece of cinema.\u2019 John David Washington is \u2018rapidly rivalling his father with his varying career choices, and skillful execution, while other leads in Ramos, Harrison Jr and Rob Morgan in support as Zyrick\u2019s encouraging father equally engross and out-perform in their respective roles.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018The film leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but that is the point, and its timely presence in a period of social unease is urgent and as equally alarming. One also about reactions to actions and potential repercussions of standing up for what you believe in.\u2019<\/p>\n
Monsters and Men is released in cinemas and on digital 18th January and we do definitely recommend it.<\/p>\n
