Alexa Whiteside

Alexa Whiteside became an associate at the firm after graduating magna cum laude (top 5%) from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in 2017. While at Southwestern, Alexa was a member of the Southwestern Law Review, a lead student editor of the Journal of International Media and Entertainment Law (an ABA associated publication), a volunteer for the VITA Tax Clinic and served as a dean’s fellow, Biederman Entertainment Institute Scholar, co-president of the Entertainment Law Society and treasurer of the Women’s Law Association. Prior to graduation, Alexa interned in the business and legal affairs departments of Atlas Entertainment and CMG Worldwide.

Prior to her interest in law, Alexa Whiteside began her career in motion pictures and television while working as a casting assistant for New York casting director Susan Shopmaker, working in the casting department for such projects as Rob Reiner’s The Magic of Belle Isle, Sam Fleischner’s Stand Clear of the Closing Doors and Reggie Rock Bythewood’s BET Production, Gun Hill. Alexa followed that path to Creative Artists Agency, where she ultimately discovered her passion for negotiations, contracts and the law. A brief stint at media research and tracking company, Media Radar, just before law school also cemented Alexa’s passion for corporate structure and rights.

A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Art’s Film & Television undergraduate program and Columbia University in the City of New York’s Continuing Education advanced certificate program in Business Administrations, Alexa has also worked as a producer, unit production manager and an advisor to a variety of short and independent film projects, bringing with her a detailed understanding of the inner workings and demands of production both on and off the set.
