Berlin: Josh Hartnett Survival Epic ‘6 Below’ Goes to Momentum for Ultra-Widescreen Release in U.S.

hollywood-reporter-logoThe Scott Waugh drama, about former Olympian Eric LeMarque’s eight-day survival in subzero temperatures, will debut in a three-screen panoramic format for a fully immersive theatrical experience.
6 Below is hot with Entertainment One’s Momentum Pictures, nabbing U.S. distribution rights for the Tooley Productions thriller.

The Josh Hartnett starrer, directed by Scott Waugh, will be released in late 2017. It will also be one of the first films to be released in all Barco Escape theaters — the immersive three-screen, panoramic movie-going experience.

Based on a true story from 2004, the survival epic stars Hartnett as Eric LeMarque, the former Olympic hockey player who got caught in a storm while snowboarding and was stranded for eight days in subzero temperatures in the Sierra Nevadas. In the modern Prodigal Son story, LeMarque is forced to fight for his life while facing his drug addiction and selfish behavior. Mira Sorvino is also featured.

Tooley Productions’ Tucker Tooley will produce alongside Hartnett and Waugh as well as Simon Swart and Brad Pilz of Rockpile Studios. Executive producers include Thomas Lesinski of Sonar Entertainment and Greg Renker.

UTA Independent Film Group arranged the financing and packaged the project. The deal was negotiated by Sejin Croninger for Momentum.

Good Universe is currently selling the film in Berlin.
